Built by two friends who got tired of watching gambling eat the games they love.
StopTemptations is not a startup with a growth team and a funding round. It is two friends, a blocklist of 278,856 gambling domains, and a firm opinion about who this corner of the internet should work for. This page tells the story straight.
Hi, I am Sem.
A young builder from the Netherlands. I make StopTemptations together with my best friend, and everything you see here is the work of the two of us: the app, the blocklist and this website.
We grew up inside these games
Gaming is the culture we both come from. CS2 nights with friends, fresh wipe days in Rust, entire worlds in Roblox. It is where our people hang out, where the inside jokes come from, and honestly where the two of us first got curious about building things ourselves.
Then gambling moved in
Somewhere along the way the scenery changed. CS2 and Rust skins stopped being cosmetics and turned into casino chips. Case openings, skin roulette, crash games. Sites like csgoroll.com, csgoempire.com and rustclash.com are not obscure corners of the internet; inside gaming culture they are household names, promoted in the same streams and feeds that players our age watch every day.
At the same time, crypto casinos such as Stake, Roobet and Rollbit grew enormous on the back of that same audience: crypto deposits, less local regulation, and marketing that lands directly in gaming spaces. None of this is a secret or our private theory. Every name in these two paragraphs sits on our blocklist today, and you can find them on the blocked sites page.
We should be honest about what this story is not. Neither of us is going to tell you about the night we lost our savings, because that night never happened, not to me and not to him. What happened was slower and quieter: we watched gambling become part of the wallpaper of a hobby we love, aimed squarely at people who are often too young to walk into a real casino. At some point, being annoyed about it stopped feeling like enough.
We went looking for a blocker and could not find the right one
So we looked for a tool to recommend. What we wanted sounded simple: a blocker that actually covers skin gambling sites and crypto casinos, is honest in how it sells itself, and costs little enough that anyone can keep it running. Every option we found missed at least one of those three, most often the first: blocklists built around classic online casinos, with the sites gamers actually see treated as an afterthought.
We could not find that combination, so we built it together. StopTemptations blocks 278,856 gambling domains before they load: the classic casinos, bookmakers and poker rooms, and just as seriously the skin gambling sites and crypto casinos where gaming culture actually gets hit. The list is built from public blocklists plus our own mirror list, and the blocking runs locally on your device.
Three decisions we will happily defend
Building as two friends means every choice in this product gets argued out between the two of us until we both stand behind it. These are the three we care about most.
Why Lock Mode exists
A blocker you can switch off in two clicks at 2 a.m. is barely a blocker. Lock Mode lets you pick a lock period on a clear-headed day, and until it ends the app has no off switch. The calm version of you gets to outrank your worst moment. That idea shaped the whole product.
Why there are no reviews here
StopTemptations just launched, so very few people use it yet. We could paste in glowing testimonials and an invented user counter; plenty of sites do. We will not, because trust is the entire product. Reviews will show up when real people have written real ones.
Why Premium costs 2.99
The full blocklist is free forever, so the protection itself never sits behind a paywall. Premium adds Lock Mode, weekly mirror-domain updates and accountability partner alerts for €2.99 a month or €24.99 a year. A tool that guards your money should not cost serious money, and this project only has to pay for itself, not for a growth team.
Who pays for this, and who never will
A lot of the internet around gambling runs on casino money, from comparison sites to affiliate blogs. StopTemptations does not, and that is a rule, not a coincidence.
- Not funded by gambling companies. No sponsorships, no partnerships, no industry money of any kind.
- No casino affiliate deals. We never link out to a gambling site and never earn a cent when anyone places a bet.
- No ads. Not on this website, not inside the app.
- Revenue comes from exactly one place: our users, through Premium subscriptions at €2.99 a month or €24.99 a year and one-time Lifetime purchases of €49.99. If Premium does well, the blocker gets better. That is the whole business model.
And privacy-first, always: blocking happens locally on your device, and we never see your browsing history.
What StopTemptations is, and what it is not
A tool, not treatment
StopTemptations blocks websites, and no blocker is 100% foolproof. It does not treat gambling addiction. If gambling is hurting you, a blocker works best next to real human support.
Free means free
The full 278,856-domain blocklist lives on the free tier and stays there. Core protection will not move behind a paywall later.
